How Can I Help?

Submitted by savemystar on Tue, 2005-08-16 10:48.

I am a lay person and can't bring much to the table regarding the current problems faced by Hanger One, however I would like to lend my support in helping the committee keep Hanger One from being destroyed.

I grew up in Santa Clara and returned here after serving in the military. As a child, driving the Bayshore with my parents during the holidays, my father would point out the window and say, "look, honey, there is your star." referring to the one a top the hanger which use to be lit during the holiday season.

That old hanger is a large part of this valley's history - long before anyone knew what silicon was. It should be refurbished or at least be brought up to code and maintained as some sort of historic landmark or museum.

Thanks

If you want to help, go to the event tomorrow night and let them know you want the hangar saved.

Here's the information for tomorrow:
On Thursday, August 18, from 5 to 6:30 pm the Navy will be holding an Informational Poster Session on the alternatives for cleaning up Hangar 1. NASA and the regulatory agencies will also be on hand.
There will be a more formal Alternatives Workshop from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Both will take place at Moffett Field Building 943, to the right before the Main Gate (Moffett Blvd.
